Business Analyst

Job Role Overview

The biggest risk for a software product is not that it will be
over budget or late, but that it could be the wrong product is
built. The role of the business analyst is to identify business
issues and requirements and to translate them into a vision of a
new or enhanced product. This means creating diagrams, documents,
models and storyboards in order to ensure that the same vision is
shared by both customers and all internal departments.
Validation is an ongoing activity and takes several forms
including: reviews, one-to-one interviews and workshops with
customers.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Two or more years of experience working in utilities, government
or financial services, process manufacturing (pharmaceuticals,
chemicals), engineering & construction, oil & gas or
facilities management will have given you an excellent
understanding of the issues facing our clients.
To be successful in the role you will have excellent listening,
communication and interpersonal skills, to help negotiate
priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders
(such as customers, product management, and development) you will
also need facilitation skills, to lead requirement elicitation
workshops and come up with creative ideas.
Experience of document management, knowledge management, workflow
systems implementation and technical knowledge of Documentum,
FileNet, SharePoint, Oracle/SQL, client-server, web application
development and CAD/engineering applications would be desirable,
but not essential.
Fluent in one or more modern languages would also be desirable,
but not essential.
