A Canadian provincial utility has deployed Enterprise Engineer to manage its engineering projects document management requirements and improve the overall engineering business process.

The objective was to accelerate engineering projects and manage hydro generation assets replacing a combined manual / mainframe document management system.

The introduction of Enterprise Engineer has minimized the risk of loss of engineering business process knowledge due to the impending retirement of an ageing workforce. A number of challenges had to be overcome including:  geographic challenges (remote sites with little communications), dependency on hard copy drawings, provincial regulations, wet signature requirements for all engineering drawings, transparency and project backlogs.
