Engineering Business Process Improvement
Case Study - Accelerating Projects
A Canadian provincial utility has deployed Enterprise Engineer to manage its engineering projects document management requirements and improve the overall engineering business process.
The objective was to accelerate engineering projects and
manage hydro generation assets replacing a combined manual /
mainframe document management system.
Engineering Business Process Challenges
The introduction of Enterprise Engineer has minimized the risk
of loss of engineering business process knowledge due to the
impending retirement of an ageing workforce. A number of challenges
had to be overcome including: geographic challenges (remote
sites with little communications), dependency on hard copy
drawings, provincial regulations, wet signature requirements for
all engineering drawings, transparency and project backlogs.
