Document Change Management:
Alberta Oil Sands Case Study
A major oil sands operator implemented Enterprise Engineer to manage its document change management processes and maintenance records for a multi-billion dollar capital project
The objective was to provide accurate, validated
documentation to the right people, at the right time, to ensure the
right decisions are made. Over 1,600 users actively use this
system, including global EPC personnel who are part of design and
fabrication process.
Key
functionality:
- Continuous management of projects documents
and handover throughout the Asset Lifecycle (approx 2 million asset
drawings, documents and maintenance records).
- Management of incoming vendor documents and
drawings (approx 1000 drawings received each month). Each business
unit (e.g. Bitumen Production, Mining) has responsibility for their
own documentation and its management.
- Formal squad check process of all design
and construction documents arriving from Vendors, EPCs and
fabricators.
- Access to validated asset drawings
- Access to the latest released drawings and
documents for maintenance personnel
- Support for concurrent engineering
(required for overlapping phases of project)
- Access for global EPC personnel who are
part of design and fabrication process
- Management of sealed and master drawings in
line with government regulations. All drawings approvals require
wet stamps and signatures
- Integration with JD Edwards to associate
validated documents with maintenance work packages
Enterprise Engineer solutions are proven to reduce operational
costs, lower the risk of non-compliance, improve efficiency and
speed up engineering project execution by ensuring the integrity of
asset and project documentation.
