Enterprise
Engineer helps Southern Company manage transmission
documents and drawings
Southern
Company (NYSE: SO), one of the largest producers of
electricity in the United States with 39,000 megawatts
of generating capacity, has chosen McLaren Enterprise
Engineer software to consolidate the management of its
engineering drawings, documents and transmittals within
its Transmission Substation and Lines Engineering Groups
Once
deployed, McLaren Enterprise Engineer and Drawing
Manager software will enable Southern Company to achieve
its goal of consolidating its document management
systems on a single platform - Documentum. The new
system will control the on-going
management of almost two million documents and drawings
for 1600 end-users.
Commenting
on the contract, Joe Harvey, IT project manager at
Southern Company, stated:
“We
are currently maintaining multiple document management
systems and processes across Southern Company
Transmission and have the need to consolidate those
systems onto one platform. With research it became clear
that McLaren offered the best solution, as it was able
to address over 90 percent of our engineering document
management requirements out-of-the-box. In addition, it
will also allow us to support business process changes
through user configuration, which makes initial
deployment faster and ongoing change easier.”
