McLaren Task Services for Outlook, due for release in Q4 2009, has been designed to extend the use and value of Enterprise Engineer implementations by enabling Microsoft Outlook users to process work packages without leaving their familiar environment.
The value of an application designed to support a business process is directly proportionate to the number of people who actually use it. In the case of an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system, the more consistently an organization can ensure business rules and best practices are applied, the more you will benefit from increased documentation integrity, efficiency and compliance.
The engineering process for Owner Operators and EPCs spans many types of users, roles and software applications needed to support the individual everyday work tasks and documentation requirements. Although CAD is often regarded as the most widely used software application, the reality is that the number of Microsoft Outlook emails and Word documents created, consumed and managed during the course of an engineering project or asset operation far outweighs the number of engineering drawings used.
McLaren introduced Electronic Work Packages to Enterprise Engineer to reflect the real world methods of managing engineering documentation. Enterprise Engineer Work Packages manage the relationship between all forms of engineering documentation and their associated tasks governed by best practice industry processes. McLaren Services for Exchange extends the use of Enterprise Engineer to a broad set of users via Microsoft Outlook, providing greater control over the engineering documentation processes and increasing the value of the system to you.
